Woohoo it is here! Yesterday Apple announced the release of their new killer I-Toy, the IPhone. Much like the IPod this
device is expected to revolutionise the marketplace and all early indicators would say that this prophecy will be fulfilled.
Essentially it is a widescreen (480 x 320 pixels) iPod styled cell phone with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, searching and maps— all packed into one small and lightweight handheld device. Available initially in both 4 and 8 gigabyte models, they will not have quite the storage of the Ipods although expect this to change pretty quick.
The release date is expected to be in a few days time in the states. New Zealanders unfortunately will have to wait until the beginning of 2008 for it to become available. Personally I will be lining up at the shop doors to purchase one when this date rolls around. At this stage only a GSM model has been mentioned so it might be tough luck for Telecom customers. Hopefully however they have an unlocked version available which will mean you will be able to import one from the states and set it up on the Vodafone network (albeit missing a few functions).
Pricing is still hazy but a few sources are reporting that it will be around the $NZD 900 mark, not too bad for all the cool features it has.

I have heard rumour that only apple software will run on it, will you still buy one if that is the case considering how much cool stuff you can get for your treo?
Hey, in fact bro, have you seen the rip offs already to market?

I agree with M’Benga don’t you?
Note: I am not dissing Apples products by any stretch, god forbid I incur the wrath of the Jobs fanclub.
