Testing Adwords

This is a great site to send clients who continually want to check that their ads are on the front page of results for their main search terms. You may tell them - ‘look, that term is highly competitive, not strongly related to your core business and is going to ruin the return on investment of your campaign which we have worked hard optimising’ - but that never works.

So they check and check and check, making the situation even worse, driving up the impressions of their ads and sometimes even - yes this does happen - clicking on their own ad just to make entirely sure.

Clicking on their own ad.

When the cost is a premium because they want to be on the first page for that ridiculous term.

Well, here is the solution:

http://www.google.com/search?q=+&adtest=on

Thank you God Google.

The links are not real. The ad impressions are not real. The only thing that is real is the client on the end of the phone complaining that they used this tool for the whole day, on the same term, just sitting there hitting ‘refresh’ and there were instances when the ad did not, I repeat did NOT come up!
