We have been indexed by Google!

Hooray, we are finally indexed by Google and getting bonified search engine traffic using actual keywords! Stoked.

We started this site at the beginning of September, and only 3 months later we are getting referrals from Google. This actually happened a lot quicker than I was expecting, did the link building by proxy work? I like to think it did, and funnily enough, it seems that the Yahoo 360 page was the most responsive with referrals coming from this domain and what seemed to be a boost in Yahoo search traffic.

Yes, we have a shiteload of pages in the supplemental index, a symptom I think of the tagging of our posts where we use tags only once etc. effectively creating duplicate content. Might have to come up with a fix to add tags to tag pages with less than 3 posts…unless someone has bet me to it, in which case please let me know for an inbound link to your site :)

However, not indexing these pages might be taking very relevant keywords out of the equation - so I might have to experiment with unique meta content etc.

Thoughts, feedback, always welcome.

Update:

We also now do not have all those spammy urls listed in Yahoo site explorer, looks like the 404s took care of it for me, but you will see a few urls with random get variables tagged on the end, this is an attempt to create seemingly duplicate content on my site as I mentioned in this post about MSN duplicate content filters - I really have to plug that hole…
