Often I find that if a computer is exhibiting weird behaviour including : blue screens, hard drive corruption, reboots and other strange phenomena, the fault is more often than not the RAM modules installed in the PC.
But how can one be sure without going out and purchasing new memory modules and hoping that this is the problem?
Microsoft has recently released a tool called the “Windows Memory Diagnostics” tool. This tool runs various tests on the RAM in your system and reports any errors it encounters.
Basically if there are any errors reported it means that you should replace the RAM modules. Obviously you can narrow down which RAM module is faulty by testing them one piece installed at a time.
You can find this tool at the following location : http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag/
